Take A Minute To Sing Episode 17: Singing Harmony Part 2

TAKE A MINUTE TO SING EPISODE 17: Singing Harmony Part 2

Today we are taking harmony a step farther with practical application by taking the song “Row Row Row Your Boat” and singing the harmony. Remember that harmony is training your ear to hear the notes of the chord. Also rehearse following the contour of the melody.

One idea is to listen to a melody and physically chart a graph of the melody to train your ear to hear if the melody is going up, down, or staying on the same note.

This is a simple song and everyone knows the melody, so it’s the perfect choice. As we discussed in the last lesson, you start by going to the melody and then sliding up until you hear a note that harmonizes. The song is slow and is a great exercise to train your ear to find a harmony.

It will gradually become easier if you take a minute to sing every day!
